Oh geez, I guess we should be glad we're human.... Winkie, a rescued elephant, tiggered and killed her beloved caretaker Joanna friday. I am sooooo sad. I never killed anybody, but, I came close enough to scare the poop outa me. If I'da had a big trunk and big feet when I went off, whew,, no telling...... I am just sooooo sad. Poor Winkie. She must feel terrible, cant take it back. Tragic, tragic accident......

awwwwwwwww poor winkie.... maybe if the folks would let these wild animals live in their natural environment, there would be no accidents like this.....

when younger, i loved the zoo.... but as years passed all i can feel is sympathy for the caged in animals... is such a shame to capture wild animals and cage them,.,

although winkie after 30 years of living in a zoo, now lives in an elephant sanctuary, which is far better than the zoo, she is still a wild animal...........

yep, humans ruined her before she was a year old. Probably saw her mother murdered, was isolated, packed off, beat, poked, prodded...., we'll never know what Winkie went through.
This sanctuary has a very very good reputation for respecting the needs of the recovering residents. Unfortunately we can't turn back the clock and return her to her homeland. This type of open space sanctuary is most likely the best we can do to see they get to live out their lives in peace and safety with other elephants.

they have an elephant live cam at the sanctuary.. Looks like a great place for these elephants... I counted 12 elephants... Atleast they are well taken care of now and safe from any kind of abuse.. elephant PTSD tragedy in TN

i go to the live cam at: elephants.com and love to watch when somebody is playing in the giant muddy pond. One day two were rollicking around like happy kids and it made my day....

I understand that elephant. My image of losing control is giving in to the impulse of driving onto the sidewlk, onto pedestrians.
