I know people like that! People who only want to hear "compliments" and not the "truth"? Some consolations for you, Fuzz... they don't grow. People who only want to hear "compliments" and not the "truth"?

Yup. I don't mind the "truth".... so as long as it isn't put too harshly. Although I still maintain that reality is subjective. Whatever that means.... I clearly have a lot of work to do People who only want to hear "compliments" and not the "truth"? People who only want to hear "compliments" and not the "truth"?

Sky,

Did your mother teach you (mine did) that you always have to be polite?

Who else was going to call this guy out, if you didn't?

It sounds like you did a good job of handling him too!

It sounds like his behavior and issues are enough to undermine the whole future of the project. It takes going against people like that to protect the greater good that will come out of this project in the future.

The guy sounds like a roadblock instead of a leader. Sounds like he needs to get out of the way of the volunteers.

Let's see. Did I leave anything out?

If I stand up for myself, and others, I tend to feel like I've done something wrong b/c of my upbringing.

I was the President of the Women at a very large church in Orlando, FL, when we lived there. The organization was dying when I took over. I can't tell you how many fights I had to wage to implement the changes I felt that were needed. I feel God led me through this, and today the organization is healthy and alive and thriving. I give the credit to God, and the courage He gave me to fight the good fight!

Well... one thing I did blast about was getting emails from them that don't say anything.. HONEST! All that is in the email is a link for the yahoo group. I told them this was a waste of my time! Put the info in the email!

So what did I do? I sent the guy I'm having trouble with a blank email. Yep. I sent him an email with the subject line of "WE HAVE TO TALK." and the email was only a LINK to the yahoo group for PTSD. Actually, he replied already saying whenever it's convenient for me. People who only want to hear "compliments" and not the "truth"?

Sky,

This guy sounds like the Online Coordinator at the college, where I teach. I can see her driving away all of the intelligent and highly-motivated teachers coming in.

Grrrrrr!

I told my students last week that I will listen to just about anything they had to say, as long as they didn't attack me, and were polite in how they said it.

Wow, what a thread this has turned into. I think we all sound like NASCAR drivers, sitting at the starting line with our engines going.

Fuzzy,

While my mother meant well -- she didn't do me any favors either. Typically, whenever I speak up, I feel like, "Oh my goodness I was impolite, rude or hurtful" -- NOT. But I still get the same recording.

Sky,

No wonder you're having difficulty with this guy. He sounds like an idiot -- and you, my lady, are no idiot!!!

I have unproductive actions, and people who waste my time.
