Yeah so I found out I have no official PTSD diagnoses. Some doctor somewhere decided the fact I have GAD overrules the PTSD. I call BS...if anything already having problems with anxiety would make one more prone to PTSD. Anyways I just find it frusterating...and it doesn't help with my tendency to hide or run away from the symptoms being told I don't even have a diagnoses.
Well if I don't have PTSD why did I lose my ability to read multiple books at once, and my ability to focus on and obsess over intresting topics...after that f****d event and the things leading up to it. And why do my hands shake when I hear of stuff that reminds me of it? I am just rather angry about it, that's all. I mean I am open to the idea I don't have PTSD, but if not PTSD then what? |

apparently the new dsm changed a lot of things....but that doesn't make sense...what makes sense is the opposite...that your ptsd would be causing you a great amount of anxiety....im sorry that they have left you without an explanation for your troubles. take care.

PTSD is an anxiety disorder. Someone can have generalized anxiety disorder, experience a traumatic event and in my opinion develop PTSD.

Exactly what I try to tell people...I mean people with and without GAD can develop PTSD. But I don't know sometimes I just feel numb and don't care that I have PTSD and then I end up being self destructive all in an attempt to not feel it...and then being told 'well its not in your medical records' just makes me even more likely to do that.
I've had an intresting past week, and it makes me question things about myself. |

Actually, Hellion, I would think that a person who has GAD is even more susceptible to developing PTSD if they are traumatized tbh.
