I think I'm going to ask them what kind of protocol they would set up that would be different than what I do now. Specifically, whether they would use a specific approach like CBT or exposure/desensitization or even EMDR.

I see the vision of the guy I want to be after "all of this" is over. I just need direction to find the true path to get there.

Good Mowtown, let us know how you make out. I think it is good that you have a goal where you have a good idea of what you want too.

Hello, MotownJohnny. I would ask if the therapists believe it is important for the client to have input into the treatment plan.

I wish you well.

Give it time Mowtown, and you might want to even try a couple more too. Most of the time it isn't about "you" but about whether or not you can be fit into their schedule. Also, it could be that these individuals are just on vacation too.

Oh, I know. Both of them left voicemails Monday afternoon minutes apart saying they would call me Tuesday (I was in the pool doing laps at the time - I used to swim with my phone - after I ruined two iPhones by trusting "leakproof" cases I decided the phone stays in the locker, I just wear a waterproof MP3 headset for my soundtrack).

Giving them through today, if not, I will call back.

Oh, and I got "I'm not taking new patients at this time" and "Try this guy". I guess I'll try that guy tomorrow.

That can be discouraging but keep trying Mowtown, there are a lot of people out there that struggle right now so therapists are actually pretty busy. In the meantime you can do some research about CBT and DBT and think about which one you would like to try first. Often it can be the combination that makes a difference and gaining. I think it is great that you are doing the footwork towards your healing, that is what I like about you, you keep trying and really "want to" make gains. You have that part of you that is defiant that says, "oh yeah, well watch me because I am going to do it", that is the part you want to keep developing, that is the part that helped you thrive "in spite of". That is also how you can "honor" your PT that inspired you the way you should have been inspired long ago, he gave you permission, a new tool or app to move forward with and you can continue to develop that you know. Your brain is a kind of muscle too, you certainly "can" develop that part of you too, and you have been and have been making gains there too by finding the weak parts and slowly developing stronger ways to make yourself stronger there too. I have noticed you have been gaining a lot from when you first came to PC.
