My psychiatrist suspects I have PTSD but hasn't fixed me with a label. I don't need him to give me a label. I've been suffering from obsessive thoughts that are based on real life trauma. The situations aren't important; what's important is to stop these thoughts. I've had lots of trauma. I'm sensitive and fearful to others (at times) perhaps I've perceived trauma from everything?
At this point, most of the socializing I do is restricted to online forums where I can control the situation. If I feel traumatized by an unkind word then I could log off. I'm trying to reduce my thoughts by focusing on the present moment but my mind likes to think terrible thoughts. Medication can only do so much. I don't want to see a therapist because I don't trust people. I want to help myself. Any suggestions? Last edited by AliceinWonderland7; Jul 25, 2014 at 08:54 AM. |

I don't have any new suggestions because I believe therapy is helping yourself.

You can try reading the book "Trauma and Recovery" so you can learn about the healing stages of PTSD.
Here is a good link that helps too. http:Complex post traumatic stress disorder (complex ptsd, pdsd, shell shock, nervous shock, combat fatigue), symptoms and the difference between mental illness and psychiatric injury explained Welcome to PC, AliceinWonderland7 |

David Bercelis Trauma Releasing Exercises. Learn from his book. It's complete stand alone self.helpbfor tension and trauma. Physical exercise, no need to think thoughts or memories.
GABA can gate the unconscious. Youbcan buy it at health food stores. If you supplement definitely read Billie Jay Sahleys little books about her pain and trauma research and update this information with review of what's online. Or increase GABA with an hour of yoga a day. As the body is relieved of stress, and normalises, you may become trusting enough for therapy. Therapy may help. |
