I know that this forum is meant to provide a support to those who have struggled with traumatic events and find comfort in the group/solidarity in similarity. However, I'm in desperate need of talking out some things in a little bit of detail in a more detached medium, is this the place for that? I want to talk about this with my therapist, but I need to practice a little first. I'm tired of attempting to tell her things and finding myself dissociation or having full blown flashbacks in her presence. Is there some way I could tell you all or someone what has happened, or is this not the place?

((Tongalee)),

Yes, you can use this place to talk things out that you find hard to talk about with your therapist. A lot of the members here understand exactly what you are trying to find a way to do so you will have a lot of understanding support while you try to articulate things that are very hard to put into words.

Others here totally understand, you are not alone with this challenge. The members will be very supportive.

Thanks for this!

Hi Tongalee,

This is definitely the place to 'practice' your thoughts and feelings so that you can articulate them with your therapist before an actual session. I have done so many times here and have found it to be very helpful. I'm not embarrassed or anything like that if I 'freak out' in front of my therapist - believe me, she has enough personal experience with such things to understand what I'm experiencing - but it makes sessions more productive if I'm not spending half of it trying to pull myself back together and putting myself in the present so we can focus on the issue at hand instead of pulling my mind out of the past first.

If it's uncomfortable for you to discuss it openly in the forums, there is always the PM's where you can share with someone you feel comfortable with.

I hope this helps.
