Tomorrow in am going to see my T.

Last session went to a place I wasn't ready for and it hit me like a sledgehammer! She asked me if I disocciated... I have very little idea what that means. I was trying not to go 'back there', and went sort of blank. After that I've had a few flashbacks and I've been struggling all week.

She said we should talk about it in the next session, which is tomorrow.

I emailed her the incident that came up.

I really need to talk about the implications but don't want to over do it again as it took until yesterday to feel relatively 'normal' again, and I can feel all the panic and the other stuff coming back again. Part of me wants to cancel the session. But I know that won't be helpful.

Urgh!

And I emailed her in a place of feeling really out of control of my emotions and must have come across like such a needy child Starting to get more anxious about tomorrow
That's what happens when I listen to someone else and email her in between sessions!

Hi ChavInaHat. Try to relax. Your T is not judging you like you are judging yourself. They are trained to be open minded.

Not sure what your T means by dissociatino. If you want more on Dissociative Disorder you will find it here:
An Introduction to Dissociative Disorders (and Multiple Personality Disorder)

Better to do the session or if you are anything like me you will blame yourself and judge not going.

Hi ChavInAHat.

I agree with CANDC, your therapist is there to help you. But being upfront and clear on what your objectives are is very important during the unitial stages of therapy. Being on the same page and asking relevant questions when they arise is imperative to get things moving in the right direction. If unsure on anything...just ask, this is her job.

Hope everything goes well. Q.L

Thank you both!

Well, it all went ok.
My T was very understanding. She completely understood the place I was in last week.

We managed to talk about some hard things, and we have another appointment booked for Friday so that I am not left for a week feeling like I did last time.

ChavinaHat,
Glad it went well with your therapist.

Let us know how things are going.

Happy Friday almost.
