While I have a host of other issues: Bipolar I, recovering heroin/crack addict, and PTSD from various traumas this is what is troubling me the most as of late.

I moved in with my Uncle in march 2013, he was like a father and older brother at the same time. During the first week of April that year, I came home and found that he had shot himself. I know I was in the room and could see the entire seen, but the only thing I can remember is seeing the top of his head, then 15 minuets later telling my brother not to come in and calling the police.

This has really been troubling me lately since the dreams I have are focusing more and more on that scene, but i never get past the door, just like my memory, although I know that I entered the room.

I have a psychiatrist who has me on medication the has really helped, but he is at a clinic and I only see him every 8-10 weeks unless i need an emergency session. I dont think this qualifies, but this memory has been haunting me a lot and I want to know if anyone has dealt with this, and if Im going to all of a sudden remember everything and go through the pain all over again.

Hello motobreath138: I'm sorry you had this dreadful experience. I can't respond to your concern. You mentioned you're seeing a psychiatrist. Do you also see a therapist? At least where I live, psychiatrists only prescribe & monitor psych med's. They only talk with you long enough to get a very general sense of how you're doing. When I was seeing mine, it was only for about 10 minutes every 3 or 4 months. Therapists are typically the ones who actually spend time with you & try to go more in-depth.

I see this is your first post here on PC. So... welcome to PsychCentral… from the Skeezyks! I hope you find the time you spend here to be of benefit.

PsychCentral is a great place to get information as well as support for mental health issues. There are many knowledgeable & caring members here. The more you post, & reply to other members’ posts, the more a part of the community you will become. Plus there are social groups you can join & chat rooms where you’ll be able to connect with other PC members in real time (once your first 5 posts have been reviewed & approved.) Lots of great stuff! So please keep postingwho !

Thank you so much! I had a therapist but she left and they haven't hired another one yet. So it's unlikely Ill see one for a few months. Even if I was seeing one I wanted to reach out and find someone else that dealt with this.

I agree the the psychiatrists dont really help you deal with things like therapists, but mine at least diagnosed me and got me on meds that helped tremendously.

Thank you for replying and making me feel welcome

I think I screwed up trying to reply before. But I did have a therapist. She left and Im still waiting for a replacement. I just wanted to reach out and see if anyone has gone through this and how they dealt with it and if I will ever encounter a flood of images that make me go through the ordeal all over.
