Just wondering will pregnancy possibly make PTSD worse? will it make all the symptoms escalate? I am not for sure yet if I am but I will hopefully find out soon. I am just a little worried is all. I just hope that everything will work out. If I am I will accept it, but I am not going to push the issue. I am not going to be like "I want to be pregnant right now." I wanted to be pregnant but not really right now. Well I was just wondering on all of your thoughts.

I think it's probably a very individual kind of thing. The pregnancy hormones kept me pretty "up" all the time. I was quite overly protective about my unborn child, but I think I coped better with life during my pregnancies than any other time.

I don't think there is any one answer-- as we are each so unique.
It could make things better if it's a wanted pregnancy, with a strong partnership there to pick up the slack due to being tired and such. It can also serve as a big distraction from the far past trauma, helping one to focus on the here and now instead of the past. There are negatives that can make it all the more worse too. Increased stress levels, people around your body parts that you're used to being private about and many other things..... It's just so different for each woman-- hard to say how it would be in your case. I think one thing that may help to make it all a better experience is that it's a planned pregnancy and very much wanted. (not that an unplanned one will make things worse-- just can be a challenge that not everyone is up to) the best to you, mandy |

IMO it doesn't have to make anything worse. Hormones make everyone act differently. I would be more concerned about memories and what ones you have, if they have any connections to this type of event, and how you have worked through/with them until now. There are many great moms and dads out there who have PTSD, and because of it they might be a bit overprotective, but they can relish the opportunity to love their own child, as we all do.
![]() I hope you get your wish, whichever you want.
