I was recently diagnosed with PTSD, and by not knowing how to handle things, I ended up in a crisis center. I need some advice on how to deal with it, because it is hard on my family not to have their mom 'present'. I see a therapist once a week for childhood trauma.

my suggestion is just keep following what your own treatment providers and the crisis center want you to do, they are the ones that are in the best position to tell you what to do..

in other words we cant diagnose you, we cant tell you what to do about your own problems. for that you need to contact your own treatment providers.

what we do here is just like if you and one of your off the computer friends sat down and enjoyed sometime together sharing a bit of your life and your problems. sometimes someone may make a suggestion but only you and your treatment providers know what you should and shouldn't do for your own mental problems.

sometimes we talk about what our own treatment providers calls things and how they are working with us but again only you and your own treatment providers can say whats what in you and whats what for you to do about things directly related to you.

For me. I've seen my therapist ask the while, raising my kids.
Youngest were 9 when I entered therapy. They're 26 now.

Healing ptsd is long. I don't think I'll ever be rid of it. But I can manage better now.

Things got better. The kids grew up. But the support of a therapist through this was vital for me.

Thank you. I appreciate my therapist a lot. My kiddos dont quite understand what is going on, but they are learning. I think they are learning faster than I am.

Thank you. I appreciate my therapist a lot. My kiddos dont quite understand what is going on, but they are learning. I think they are learning faster than I am.

I suggest including physical exercise and creative activities to your schedule. Ptsd isn't only mental, is primarily physical issue. Doing a type of exercise that makes you relaxed is important. You may enjoy yoga, jogging or strength training - it depends on your personality type. Mindful meditation is crucial - find body scan on YouTube. Also, find some new hobby.
You need these activities to calm down after difficult sessions and to improve your brain function.

There are a lot of cutting edge and experimental therapies for ptsd. There is no magic bullet that will work for everyone. I personally favor the holistic mind, body, spirit approach. These are some of the new approaches people can research:
EMDR, using ecstasy with talk therapy , deep brain stimulation, SBG injections .
I have a friend in Iraq so I have been following this.
I do not hold with the idea that any therapist or psychiatrist is like God and has all the answers for a particular patient. Keep an open mind and do some reading.
