Hi,
I am another new member. Ten years ago, I was diagnosed with PTSD by a LCSW after being sexually assaulted by my college boyfriend. Unfortunately, I have sustained many traumas over the years. My brother, who suffers from schizo affective disorder, pushed me down a flight of stairs which resulted in surgery on a major joint. After graduating college, I was sexually harassed by my supervisor and male colleagues at a temp assignment. Two years ago, I was a passenger in my vehicle when it collided with a truck that failed to yield the right of way. My vehicle was totaled by an unlicensed and uninsured motorist who happened to be an illegal immigrant. I have experienced more than my share of bad luck. Perhaps, there will be someone else here who may be able to relate at least to one of my predicaments. Thanks. |

Kiya and Cyran0,
Thank you both for responding to my message. Right now, I need the assurance that I am not all alone. I feel very alienated and isolated because of all my horrible experiences. It is difficult not to feel like damaged goods. I wish I could afford counseling but I will not have access to health insurance until the end of May. In the meantime, I am trying to find outlets so that I can preserve my sanity. Thanks again. Ecrivain23 |

Hi and welcome.
I'm sorry that you've suffered so much, but you're not alone. I, too, have survived many traumas, both in childhood and in adulthood. You have survived and that's the most important thing. Healing and maintenance can occur and I can attest to that. Are you in therapy at all at present? Again, welcome! KD

Hi KD,
I sent you a private message with this information but I will disclose it to the group. Currently, I have no health insurance. My husband was unemployed for two months last fall and then hired by a new company. We will not become eligible for health benefits until the end of May. In addition, I suffer from multiple autoimmune conditions which prevents me from working. Right now, I am relieved that I have discovered this forum so that I can communicate with others about healing from trauma. Ecrivain23 |

Have you contacted your local community mental health center? They go according to income, etc. I'm sorry you're struggling with autoimmune difficulties. Daughter just found out a year ago that she has grave's disease (when she was pregnant) and is having her thyroid removed tomorrow because they can't control it and her liver and heart keep getting "involved". They've tested her for lupis and RA as well. They suspect there's more going on, but one step at a time. You'll be in my thoughts and prayers. KD

I left a voice mail and e-mail message yesterday for my local community health center. Hopefully, they will respond. It is a shame that options are limited for MH treatment when one does not have insurance. Hopefully, that will change with the next presidential election. LOL.
I'm sorry to hear about your daughter. My younger sister suffer from Hashimoto's disease. Thyroid problems are never easy to contend with especially when one is pregnant. I will keep your daughter in my thoughts and prayers tomorrow during her surgery. I hope that it is successful and without any complications. In terms of autoimmune conditions, I have had drug induced lupus and been diagnosed with RA. According to my rheumatologist, the RA is supposedly in remission but I beg to differ. In addition, I cope with Celiac disease, Raynaud's, asthma, Hemochromatosis, eosinophilic gastroenteritis, secondary adrenal insufficiency, two herniated cervical disks, and six food allergies which have been confirmed by two board certified immunologists. All these medical problems developed after the auto accident. I wonder if this is a connection? |
