I have a heck of a time making decisions! I have noticed that either I spend days/weeks/months making a decision, getting caught up in the tiny details to avoid making a decision (and feel responsible if it was the wrong decision) or else I make a cursory stab at research/planning and then just pick the first thing I see. The bigger the decision, the more likely I am to just pick something out of a hat. (buying my last house & my last 2 cars were like this, as well as both of my marriages)
I can't find a middle ground. As soon as I start trying to make a considered decision, I either get caught in the minute details, or I get a compulsion to just pick something and get it over with. So I put it away to avoid picking the wrong thing - and it'll be months before I pick it up again!!! Which is another way of avoiding making the decision. ![]() Thoughts/suggestions welcome! |

Thanks for sharing this. In our household, my wife pretty-much makes all of the important decisions. (And she's good at it!) With regard to the few small decisions I do make, I tend to be a last-minute sort of decision maker. My tendency is to wait until the decision finally has to be made & then I just pick whatever sounds best to me at the moment. Perhaps some of what's going on with you is a lack of self-confidence with a bit of procrastination thrown in for good measure? I don't know. Perhaps other PC members will yet come along with some better insights.

Thank you! That does sound a lot like me - wait till the last minute and just pick whatever. (Or else pick what someone else tells me to pick, lol)
Could be a self-confidence thing, I think I may feel like I make bad decisions, so I want to avoid making any at all. Well, another thing to work on I guess. In the interim, though, I really need a new mower! LOL!!! |
