Right now out side the townhouses there are a bunch of people (men) milling about with ladders. I know at some point there will be guys here to work on the roof. But I think these guys are chimney sweeps. But i have all my blinds closed - even though it is going to be 81 degrees here. I don't want them to see me or see in my house. Every bang and noise I jump. I hate this - I feel like a prisoner in my own house.

OH Kiya. I can so relate. It's such a horrible feeling. I am scared

I had a new roof put on the house last year and having them here for four days was unbearable. I was afraid to take a shower and would wait until my husband came home for lunch. I am scared

I hope you are okay now. I do the same thing in my house. Most of the time the blinds are all closed up tight, but hearing someone outside is much more stressful. Check everything you need to to prove to yoursafe you are safe.

Kiya:

Noise is a huge trigger for most people suffering from PTSD.

Personally, my nervous system is so overtaxed and beat up, I need total peace and quiet. I get pissed when one of my neighbors drives into our complex with his windows opened, blasting rap music. The base just drives me off the wall. I feel like going out with a baseball bat and smashing their heads.

Because of my issue with noise, I have been forced to give up many things I always liked: football games, concerts, parties, wedding receptions, large restaurants, etc.

Any rooms in the house where you could relax in that have no windows? Ether that or going out would be my suggestion.
