I am having a terrible time with nightmares and waking up at night; I'm getting very little sleep which is not helping me. What can I do to get some rest?

I have that problem too, I've found sleep with my headphones on helps me or I have to sleep with alot of lights on. If I get woke up by one I remind myself where I am and that everything is okay.
I hope you get some rest hun.Nightmares

I sympathize. It is so hard when the nightmares get bad.

I turn on all the lights in the house, except for the bedroom lights.
I leave the tv on downstairs, low volume, so there is some "white noise" so I don't hear every creak of the house.
I spray my bed with a lavender-scented pillow spray.
I look at a book of art that I love that makes me feel contented.

Last night I finally "crashed and burned" (fell asleep for several hours). When I awoke, I had clenched my blanket so tight for hours that I had a hard time relaxing and unbending my arms. My arms are very sore today; every time I try to move them it's painful. This is just about as bad as no sleep!
