Hey everyone...

I wrote a post below that explains more about me and what is going on.

Has anyone else had to write letters to their abusers for therapy? How did it go? Did you have trouble getting started? Advice is appreciated! thanks

i had to write a letter to mine then the therapist made me read it and i burst out in tears, i'm not sure if writing the letter helped but the therapist brought up issues in the letter that we discussed.

Thanks I did the same and therapist had me read it at our last session. I do think it helped. I think my letters gave the therapist things to bring up and address. Thanks for responding..

i wrote a letter but didnt have to bring it to therapy - helped me sort things out in my head - also did an exercise where I had a conversation where I confronted him and wrote his and my replies - confronting but helped - then wrote a letter to myself as a child - then wrote a letter to a child as someone else and I was much kinder than I had been to myself -

the letter I wrote to myself was not very nice - I told her how it was all her fault - that she must have done somthing to make it happen or could have stopped it somehow - it shower me how I really felt about myself -

then I wrote a letter as If I was talking to another child - WOW the difference - I was kind and compassionate - told her she couldnt stop it - it wasnt her fault - amazing the difference - yes it was hard - but it helped me realise that it wasnt my fault and that at the age I was there was nothing I could have done to stop it - which is hard to accept
