12 concerns, with these as the top scores:
96% in Borderline, 90% in Eating Disorders, 89% in General Coping, 83% in Posttraumatic Stress/ Self-Esteem, 80% Mania. No surprises there, sadly. This is, however, a good time to mention that I am starting therapy this Friday. Problem is, with my compulsive denial of all things painful ("how dare you pretend your fake problems are real"), I'm concerned that I will end up wasting another $200 with no progress to show for it. Any advice on where I should start with all this? Thanks. |

Hi! I'm really glad to hear you're starting therapy. The first session will be what's called an "intake interview" when the therapist asks you questions and begins to learn about you. Then you might stay with this person or be sent to another therapist.
Since you have a lot going on, then you and the therapist might end up talking about the therapy plan. I strongly suggest you take your test results in. Maybe he/she would be willing to use those as a springboard. I suspect you might also be referred to a psychiatrist for possible medications. But I can't say for sure. Try to hang in there and be honest with the therapist. No games. And with the borderline possibility, you might find yourself getting mad at him/her. But that's where folks with BPD often make their mistake--sometimes they bounce from one therapist to another. Keep in touch and let us know how things go. Okay? ![]() |
