So I took the sanity test as a means of seeing what I need to do for treatment of my BPD. But, I took the test and scored a 135.
The overall score doesn't bother me. But they found 10 serious concerns and 2 minor concerns.

The Serious Concerns:
Depression
Anxiety
Phobias
Self-Esteem
Eating Disorders
Schizophrenia
Dissociation
Mania & Bipolar Disorder
Obsessions and Compulsions
Borderline Traits (Which I knew cause I have Borderline Personality Disorder)

Minor Concerns:
PTSD
General Coping

So here's my question/concern... how many mental issues can a person have? I mean, there's so many serious concerns listed, but my brain's chemical balance couldn't be that altered right?
I'm really confused.

I don't know what the record is for the number of mental-health issues a person has ever had at one time, but keep in mind that some of these go together or one could lead to another. Plus, some are seen as more chemically caused and others by environmental factors.

You say you have been officially diagnosed with borderline personality disorder. Are you in treatment now--seeing a psychiatrist and a therapist? I definitely recommend you do that, if you aren't. You might even want to take the list along. One person here told me she did that.

Remember that this test is a short version, but that said, it seems pretty much on target. (I've taken it myself.) Okay?

Meanwhile, we are here, too, to support, etc. Many of us have been or still are in therapy ourselves!
Thanks for this!

I do see a therapist, I've had for years, and a psychiatrist. I will consult with my psychiatrist this week ( since I see her). I was just a little confused on how this all works. I thought I was being told I have 10 different disorders. Which sort of shocked me. Thank you for your support!

Chemical imbalance is believed to be a contributing factor to just some but not all of the serious concerns on your list.

On a more practical note, to the extent that you and the professionals who help you believe that the findings of the Sanity Score do reflect the true reality of your situation, you and the professionals need to rank and prioritize the list, so that it is not as overwhelming and confusing to you. One cannot deal with such a long list in a productive fashion.

For me it was an awful feeling to be proved right. I scored 178 with 12 major concerns, 6 minor & according to another quiz I'm a moderate psychopath. I'm only being treated by my gp for panick disorder & agoraphobia. Wish you well on your journey

When I first started out in the psychiatry biz (har har) I was diagnosed with the following:

-panic disorder/agoraphobia
-borderline
-OCD
-depressive disorder
-dissociative disorder
-eating disorder

I think that's it...
Anyways, We worked with that diagnosis for a couple of years. I went about getting help for as much of that stuff as I could. Then last month my new psychiatrist said she was scrapping all of that stuff and changing my diagnosis to PTSD and eating disorder.
It freaked me out but I don't regret anything. I got treatment for my symptoms, which is still useful to me no matter what my diagnosis is. I wouldn't worry so much about titles and words as about experience. If you need/want help with things, that is the important thing, as well as having medical professionals who can give or help you get that help and having a solid support system in place.

The important thing to here is not to get in.your head...I'm not one to talk as I tend to do just that...which in turn interferes with my work and relationships ect... Don't let some online screening tell you that you're #@$!ed up, let a psychiatrist(: and hey, I scored high in almost all categories...I'm a schizoid and I know that symptoms overlap and all but in all honesty I think that that test is a little too touchy. If your mental heath is controlling your life in a negative way, talk.to someone. And know that many people on this forum will help you through whatever you got going on.(: -please pardon the random periods, I'm on my phone!
