caveat: not diagnosed by anyone, I think I've dedicated my entire life to avoiding talking to a psychiatrist.

Test picks up my depression/anxiety which are more than a little annoying but leaving me alone for the moment. As well as dissociation, which, since its memory related has to be chalked up to physical injury first unless proven otherwise. (used to it, so I don't honestly find it distressing)

Seems weird though in the overall result text vs the "serious concerns" text. top says basically, "no sweat, keep on keepin on"; detail part says "checked out with a mental health professional as soon as you can." Seems like a more valid text for the top part would go "no sweat" on low, only there were no serious flags... just a thought.

Still a fun little test for personal reflection.

Taken the test a couple more times, and I think I spot a pattern arising.

pre-caffeine: depression very high, anxiety moderate
post-caffeine: depression lower, anxiety higher

(Not a small amount of caffeine though, 12-15 cups worth of coffee on avg)

Your Sanity Score
93
Based upon your answers, you appear to be experiencing some distress at the moment in your life, dealing with things that you may sometimes find overwhelming. People with similar scores tend to be coping relatively well with daily life, but sometimes feel overwhelmed by certain moods, feelings, or situation. Your mental health is fairly good and you're on an even keel. Some people with similar scores find mental health treatment from a psychologist, psychiatrist, or psychotherapist targeted to a specific disorder, issue or problem helpful to their overall feelings and coping skills. Others feel they are doing just fine the way they are.

(The Sanity Score is based upon a scientific algorithm with scores ranging from 0 - 288.)

Your specific subscores are below (subscales range from 0 - 100). Under the graph of subscores, you will find additional information regarding the meaning of any significant scores or areas that may be of concern.

Total, 66. What's fun is that it caught the change. This is the first time in my life that my hormone issues didn't make this type of change feel really dangerous and unpleasant.

Interesting aside, I wonder why I can never perceive these mood phases when I'm depressed. I just feel like I've always been depressed. lol. (and yes, I still intend to talk to a psychiatrist fairly soon, bouncy mode, or not.)

addenda about cycling; I'm not sure how I feel about this, Fisher died, and as a result of drive-by reading I stumbled onto a little factoid that upended my understanding. I'd always believed that cycling, at the slowest was a couple weeks up and a couple weeks down, and when people wrote rapid cycling, they were talking about a day or two. So I'd always excluded the possibility and so just had ground out each swing through depression as they came, and figured I was just being normally perky otherwise.

On the upside, it'll make it pretty obvious to know whats going on, and there is something that can be done; on the downside, its a really cruddy label that regular people react to, not to mention the copy-cat kind of feel it'll have describing it.

It sure does explain a lot though... I was even looking at my house today, we'd had a storm late spring that blew down trees and did a lot of damage; I was up at the time, and did an enormous amount of non-stop work myself, saved tons in labor costs, paid off the mortgage, was 2/3rds of the way through painting the exterior..... and stopped dead cold, and just essentially slept for the next month, barely even keeping up with work. And my life is littered with intervals like that. I just thought they were normal.

Now, I just have to wait for it to dry off outside and I'll finish painting my house to the relief of the neighbors. lol.

To sum up, up kept going up in Jan; but I also had my first appointment with a psychiatrist, diag'd as BPI, and most importantly got started on Depakote, which seems to be working. Put on some weight during startup, and so I'm now counting and weighing everything I eat, blah blah. yuck. Definitely worth it.

OTOH, weather has been uncooperative, so the part of the house that I didn't finish painting, remains unfinished...
