i think this will be my last update. i'm still having brain zaps which are annoying but not painful. i just can't imagine they are good for the brain though. i heard taking magnesium malate helps so i'll get some tomorrow. my digestive system is still kinda wacky. not sure if the diarrhea has stopped or what but now i'm all stopped up. i am feeling rather stressed and a bit moody/down lately but i can't tell if that is still the withdrawal effects or being off the drug. this whole process has been quite stressful but some of it was definitely from the withdrawal effects. i am so glad to be off this med!

also, i found there is a petition to the manufacturer about this drug. here's the link: effexor petition

The brain zaps made me re-think the whole idea of taking meds that affect the brain.

I'm sorry you're still having the brain zaps, that's awful. I'm almost completely off effexor now too and thankfully have had very few side effects for the past week. I know how lucky I am especially with this drug. Unfortunately my meds haven't arrived in the mail yet so I'm still waiting. argh!

Love and Hugs,
Tara

P.S. keep us updated

i'm so glad you posted. i've been wondering how you've been doing. wow, i can't believe your meds haven't arrived yet, but i'm glad so you're doing better.

i don't think i can take the magnesium malate after all because of my other health issues but i'm taking a vegetable & fruits supplement which will hopefully help a bit and probably has some magnesium in it. i'm definitely getting back to normal but it was a hairy ride.

the effexor saga continues. the last couple of days i didn't take my benedryl which i usually take to help me sleep. today i got a horrible case of the runs and it finally dawned on me it's because not taking the benedryl caused the effexor withdrawal effects to kick back in. argh! so i am back on benedryl but now wonder what happens if i try to stop that. i'm hoping if i take the benedryl consistently for another month and then try to stop i won't get all sick again like i did today or if the withdrawal effects will come back strongly. just when i thought i was thru the worst of this now another glitch. i've also realized my extreme stress i've been feeling is from the effexor withdrawal.

please, don't anyone go on this drug unless you absolutely need to! it really makes you feel like you're going thru the DTs or something coming off it.

Bloom,

I'm so sorry the saga continues. Effexor withdrawal is so incredibly horrible. Thank goodness my meds finally came so I was able to get back on it. Lord only knows how I'll ever get off.

Love and Hugs,
Tara

my brain zaps are pretty much gone now. yea! they were quite bad for awhile there and i wondered how long that would last. now if i can get the stress to diminish i'll be pretty much over this withdrawal thing. well, as long as i don't go off the benedryl anytime soon which i'm not going to do.

effexor is a beast to get off of. check the internet. there are sites devoted to effexor withdrawal. there are things that can be done to help with the withdrawal, but talk with your doc and then try consulting with a pharmacist. Good luck!

last week i had suicidal ideation which is something i've not had in close to a decade. i did have a huge trigger but after reading another thread on here about effexor withdrawal i wonder if it is part of the withdrawal effects. there's probably no way to know but yeesh that is just so wrong if the drug did that.
