I'm about to start taking Seroquel and wondered whether anybody had any good reports on its efficacy? And also anybody not experience any side-effects?

Worked great for my hubby. Only side effect we noticed was it knocked him out for about 8-10 hours. He had really good results with it. He eventually went off it because he no longer needed it. He was on a small dosage though, so that may play a part in it.

Don't take it during the day!!!! In the hospital, they put me on a very small amount to take during the day (it apparantly helped other patients) and it made me dead tired. They also use it as a sleep aid, I hear. Anyway, I hope seroquel works out for you and may you not have any funky side effects!!!

Well depending on when you take it will be the real decideing factor if you will like it at first or not. Usually the doseage in the morning starts off low and your doc will bring it up as your body gets used to it. I am currently taking 100 mg in the morning and 700 mg at night. It does wonders for me combined with the Lithium that I take. I have worked up to that high of a dosage and I have discussed it with my doc and we both feel that I am at a very productive level (that was last Mon.). I will soon be taken off seroquel and lithium alltogether now that I am pregnant. But don't let some people discourage you in here. They will holler don't take it, because it didn't work for them. It is up to your doctor and YOU to decide if it will work for you. Remember that it can take up to 3 weeks for your body to get aclamated with the meds your on.

My only complaint with the Seroquel is during the first couple weeks, it knocked me out fast, and when I woke the next morning, I felt full on drunk (knocking things over, bumping into things, slurred speech) for up to 4 hours (I was started on 100 mg). (Thank goodness for medical leave.)

Keep in mind, everyone is different, and you may not have any negative side effects. I've been on Seroquel for two months now, and it has definitely made a huge improvement in my mood swings, along with Lithium. And in that time, the side effects have subsided considerably; I still fell drowsy when I wake up, but it's nothing a hot shower and a couple cups of coffee doesn't take care of.

LOL I get the opposite - a runny nose! Seroquel - Any good reports?

But, everyone reacts differently to the same medications. Here's a link to the Seroquel website. It's loaded with info on the drug, and it's very easy to follow.

Happy surfing!
