Hi there
Cam, as I wait for my bloodwork from my GP to come back, tell me have you ever heard of Lamictal (I 'm on 200mgs a day for a year now) causing anemia? I saw here for 2 days ago for follow up and renewal for the Synthroid (25mcg) she started me on in April, which I think has addressed quite of few of my physical complaints, but lately the hair again started falling out after it had been doing good once I was treated for hypothyroidism, I know almost all the woman and some from dad's family had thyroid problems at the great pre-menopausal age, and that you usually stay on it after.
Sorry there, I got off track (as usual) but I was wondering if there is a link, she also said she was checking vit.B12 levels, creatinine (kidney function), and of course tsh, t3, t4. & CBC. I take multi vitamin but had stopped using the formulation with Iron, thought it was causing irregularity (nice way to say constipation) but later realize it must of been at the point I was hypothyroid, so maybe that and Lamictal used has increased the chance of anemia, we'll see soon when the blood work comes in, I was anemic many years ago due to surgeries and heavy menstruation, but with vitamins and extra iron it went away.
Also would Klonopin and Ativan (the cousins) have any additional effect with hair thinning, anemia, and even on the thyroid function?
Okay, I asked enough questions and could "hear some "yawns" coming your monitor, ha!ha! ha!
If you have some time, tell me what is your take on this.
Thanks in advance

PS Congrats on the admin. position, got the notice from the "Doc" today

DE - I will have to look that up, but I am far from home (Orlando) for depositions in the lawsuit in which my 18 year old was killed in a crosswalk when we were here in June, 2000.

Anyway, I will be checking in tomorrow on the lawyer's computer as this weird kiosk computer isn't the easiest thing to use.

Sorry for the delay in answering, but I will try and get everyone's questions answered. Thanks for your understanding. - Cam

Cam,
I am really sorry to hear about your loss. Going thru all this now with depostions, lawyers and court must be very trying.
My thoughts are with you and your family.
Hugs,
Heidu

Cam,
Like I said when we spoke after my post, forget about this post, you have and have had your mind on so much and so many places. I remember I was the first person to answer your post almost 3 years ago now, and I can imagine the hell you and your family are still going through. We spoke earlier today, I know it was lengthy, but I hope it helped a little.
Meanwhile take care of yourself, we'll be waiting here for you with "open arms"

.... BTW, anemia from lamotrigine (Lamictal™) is very rare. I've never seen it happen, nor have I heard of it happening. I tried to find the circumstances behind the anemia cases (eg. was the person taking another anticonvulsant - ie. cabamazepine [Tegretol™], valproic acid [Epival™/Depakote™], which is normally the case).

I hope that this allays some fears. - Cam
