150-225 mg is actually considered the therapeutic range for Effexor. I'm on 375 Mg daily. You're not on a high dose at all.

Hi, I'm on 300mg once daily of Effexor XR. It seems to be working pretty well for now. I hope you also have good results with whatever you try. Hugs!

Hi, I'm also on 300mg once a day. I have been on it before (think I went up to 450mg) unfortunately it does work for me and I say that because it's such a ***** to get off of.
Hope it helps you.

I take 325 mg of effexor XR [extended release, I guess], once daily. If it hurts me, I can't tell. I do think it contributes to leg restlessness, at nearly any dosage, but I could be wrong about that. Just a thought - billieJ

http://www.effexorxr.com/medication-guide.aspx

Looks like the max dosage is 375 mg. But for most of the disorders, it says that 225 mg would be sufficient......

and this is why my insurance never wants to cover it, because I take more than the "recommended" dosage.....

I know a lot of people experience side effects on the lower dosages, but around the 225 mg mark, they don't seem to be as bad.

The one bad thing about Effexor XR is that, it might stick with you forever. Especially at the higher dosages. I did do the switch to Pristique the year before last, but that was too expensive for the insurance company, and I was on a higher dosage than recommended, so after about 3 months of that, they totally decided to stop covering it, so I had to go back to Effexor XR. booo....

I do find that when I do miss a dose, there's the possibility of myself going completely insane, then when I miss 2+ dosages, I'm usually out of commission for about a week. Not cool. Make sure you get your prescription filled a couple days ahead of when you actually need it.

Effexor for me has been a godsend. It dragged me out of a real deep long lasting depression. And i'm lucky, I can miss a few days without any problems. Don't have any side effects anymore aside from some dizziness and nausea about 4 hours after I take it. And that's really mild.
