The one I'm taking is a 10mg tablet labeled Lepax (taken at night). I started out with half the dose (around March 28 this year) and now taking the 10mg of it for over two months already. No side effects nor positive effects that I'm aware of...but like my psychiatrist told me, I wouldn't know if I'd actually be worse without it.

Before Escitalopram, I was on 10mg Fluoxetine. It made me feel better for a week but gave me a stomachache everyday so I stopped it after a few weeks.

So, about the Escitalopram/Lepax, is two months too quick to confirm it's not working or should I wait longer and see?

Do you feel unhappy still?

Hmm well it takes up to six weeks to start working, but it's been two months so you would probably see at least some negative or positive effect. I also find it hard to tell because I can't remember what it felt like off of it day to day..I guess unless I was severely depressed which I guess I haven't been often.
I would suggest giving it one more month and if you still feel like it's not working for you tell your doctor you'd like to try something else.

I see I know this drug as Lexapro. I took it for a good while. I can't remember how long, but I think I went off of it when my psychiatrist (pdoc)cut down on my antidepressants when he found out they could cause mania in bipolars like me. I am wondering if you need a higher dose.

I will check to see what the therapeutic dose is and be back.

Yep, 10mg once a day is considered to be the right dose. I agree that if another month goes by and you aren't feeling much better, to ask about weaning off the Lexapro and trying something else.

I guess your doc is glad to have you on something that's not causing side effects!

Ymmv, etc. but imho citalopram and escitalopram are usually placebo.. they're weak drugs.

I should also mention that I believe that anything that takes 4-6 weeks to start working is horseshit, sorry to have said it, but depressive episodes typically resolve themselves within 4-6 weeks (mild to moderate ones), and I don't believe it takes that long for the brain to equilibrate to a dose of much of anything.. 7 days is the longest I think steady state levels are reached.

This is a complicated argument that I shouldn't go into right here, but I do have trouble shutting up most of the time.
Thanks for this!

I can never tell if any change is because of the meds or it's because of situations. I've always been reactive to positive events even if I still feel **** inside. It's still like that.

The next time I'm seeing him is next month, so I'll just give it more time. Though he did say meds are only gonna help 30%. I hate CBT though. But I still attend every appointment because I need to rant somewhere.

I've been on those doses on escitalopram (it says lepax on mine too ) and even to the highest 20mg and I've never felt any different.

(but that's just me, nothing works for me)

Maybe you could talk it out with the doc who prescribed you the med?

I'll try talking it out with him, yeah. Just curious, what did you do when Lepax wasn't working for you? Did you change to something else or not use meds entirely?

I stayed on it for awhile as that pdoc was hesitant to change.. and when I changed to a new pdoc (I change every year, long story) I asked for a change.

... and the change didn't work either so my pdocs are just keeping me on one to "just be on the safe side."

(to be honest I've gone 1 month without the meds and felt no difference)

So maybe you could see whether there is a difference, and base your decision on it?
