I've been on Zoloft for a few months now, and I want to make it without them. Is it possible to go off them before 6 mo or is it too big a risk? I want my feelings back. I want to be able to cry and laugh, just not feel numb. I want to be me.

You know... wanting their feelings back is one of the reasons people START meds. I know that when I was taking Lexapro, I felt like the real "me" -- what I always thought I should feel like. If that makes any sense. I guess my point is that it would be worth talking to your doctor for a med reevaluation. Sounds to me like maybe Zoloft just isn't right for you.

Yeah, maybe Zoloft just isn't right for you. Maybe something else would do better. I hope you'll talk to your doctor about it and not just take yourself off of your meds alone. That can be very dangerous.

I have been on zoloft for 7 months. I have only just started to get some feelings back. I can actually laugh a little bit now. Before I felt like my face would crack if I did. But I still have bad feelings also. Right now I'm in pain. I do know what it's like not to feel anything. It's awful. Don't know if this makes any sense.
It's best not to go off meds without talking to your doctor. You may be able to try some other meds. I'm am changing to another medication in a couple of weeks. Going off meds is not something that I would decide by myself. It's good to talk to the experts. Hope you are feeling something soon. Want my feelings back (quit meds?)

I just wrote a post about feeling numb and lifeless right now today. However, I've been on Zoloft and Depakote for a long time - like 12 years - and except for the occasional few days of depression here and there, functioned "normally."

Prior to Zoloft, I was first put on Prozac and I didn't respond well to that, thus the change to Zoloft.

Now I'm in the midst of a depressive episode to the degree that I have not experienced since 1993. Why the brain chemicals do what, when, is totally mystifying to me.

Anyway - (starting to ramble) - I also would agree with talking to your pdoc - there are a lot of new anti-depressants even since I began on Zoloft.

Good luck with that and hope we both start feeling "alive" again soon!
