my doctor is thinking of putting me on effexor. I was just wondering if anyone else has tried this medication and what they think of it....

I have been on Effexor XR for almost 6 yrs and it has been a wonderful drug for me. It allows me to feel my emotions without being overwhelmed by them Effexor.

I hope it works for you......remember give it time. Good luck!

i was on it for a year. i went from a size 8 to a size 0. i ate every two or three days. my head felt as there were rocks tumbling around in it. then the withdrawal nearly killed me. i had to actually count the little balls, inside the capsule, to slowly cut down. that's my experience on effexorXR.

I have found Effexor XR to pretty helpful for depression...I have n't had the best luck with any of them, but Effexor does seem to be good for me.

Just an FYI, Wyeth filed today with the FDA for approval of a new version of Effexor that has been tweaked in unspecified ways. It's called desfenlaxafine and they have filed for treatment of major depressive disorder.

So, assuming the FDA gives the nod, there will be something else in the cupboard like Effexor (hopefully without the withdrawal issues) in something like 6 to 18 months.

I'm on Effexor XL and I can't say if there is an improvement or not, I dont think so because i seem to stay in bed all day and i have no interest in anything or anyone. I am tired of this now.

Hope that it helps you though. Huggles
