Since the insurance I have will not allow a prescription for me to be on cymbalta I have been weaning off under a doctor's care.
It has been a week since I have cut down and I have one week to go to take a 30mg tablet every other day.
I am not sure but I think this could be the cause of my destructive thoughts in my head along w/ my issues and current daily stressors.
And of course, T is away for the Holiday week.
ARGGGG....
Then once weaned off I have to figure out what would be best to go on that will provide my head with the equal amount of help cymbalta was.
Any suggestions?

Ok, well it is my primary doctor because I hated my pdoc.
I just has asked my primary to prescribe it when my office switched insurance plans and then the mayhem of the new insurance denying it begun.
I do not want to see a pdoc.
So, I don't know what to go on next or what they will suggest.
My primary has spoken w/ therapist about my dx and so I think they are going to talk about what would be best to put me on...
I say...NOthing....let the chips fall where they may!

Effexor is a "dual mode" drug like Cymbalta. They both inhibit norephinephrine and serotonin reuptake. Effexor additionally has an effect on dopamine.

Effexor has an interesting side effect list, but if tolerated can be a great drug. It is very hard to get off of once you have been on it for a while.

Your doc's call, of course, but just to let you know that there is something similar out there.

From what I have read of your posts, I don't think letting the chips fall where they may is the best approach right now. The anger is likely to overwhelm you if you go off meds - as you suggest, tapering off Cymbalta is probably behind some of your current turmoil.

All the best, gl

Hy Suz Almost totally weaned off Cymbalta....

I know how it feels to taper down on the meds. YUCK!!!

I take Effexor XR. It has worked pretty well for me. I know that all people react differently to each med. Just giving my 2 cents Almost totally weaned off Cymbalta....

Yah know I've been on such a rollercoster with meds..... I cant believe the meds they have me on now..... Cymbalta, Zoloft, dextroamphetamine, valium, trazadone and ambien. I mean.......... and I also take a barbiturate pain reliever for chronic neck pain. ( Maybe riding horses for a livin aint the best choice for me huh? ) hehehehe........... BUT .......... with all these meds I'm only barrely functioning........EVerything is a BIG struggle for me. I mean if I actaully keep an appointment it's a miracle. Any one had any GREAT luck with any meds........... anyone taken THIS MANY meds............ I'm wondering if my doctors what the hell they're doing. My Pdoc tells me to stop questioning her and my internist tells me that she HOPES my PDOC knows WHAT SHE'S DOING......... I think my internist is very against the stimulants..... But without them, I don't think I'd get out of bed at all. Seems I'm nothing really but a RX drug addict. Really kinda depressing in and of itself........ If I stop taking any of these drugs I totally WIG out .. like SNAP......... not very productive........ so, without the meds, I'm just a loon.....isn't that precious?
