Hi, I take lithium and effexor and was wondering if any body could recommend a safe painkiller since I read that I can't take ibuprofen or aspirin and I am feeling a headache coming on. Thanks a lot

I would imagine that tylonal would help. If you are in CND they have it with a low dose of codine

You are very lucky to be able to take pain killers that aren't narcotics. I never had a headache before I started taking antidepressants....then migraines hit & there was nothing that would even touch the pain. They tried all kinds of treatments & all the normal migraine meds...it turned out that the only thing that I got relief from was demerol at 200mg shot & then I became the narcotic seeking person at the ER every 3 days. I finally found a pain specialist that decided to try 2 100 ug/hr duragesic patches of fentynal which is a huge dose of narcotics. I have been on this dose for 3 years without the need for any changed & absolutely no migraines. What a blessing & how awsome to find a Dr that is willing to give me that dose without the fear of the DEA coming after him.

I fear moving & trying to find another Dr that has the guts like he does to be willing to prescribe the level that works & is willing to go up against the DEA. He is 1 in a million & feel that I will fly to get to him no matter where i end up just to avoid . There are pain specialists that are willing to make sure that you have a life style that is improved then there are others that fear the DEA. That is the basic way to determine a good quality pain specialist.
