For the past three weeks I have taken the generic form of Prozac and I was hoping to begin to feel better. With much disappointment, I seem to be even more tired than I was before that even people I've only recently met have commented on my appearance. I feel like a walking zombie.
To add to the tiredness, I now have even more trouble keeping up with laundry and homework. I'm almost content to fail in ever aspect of my life. Anyone else have a similar experience with prozac? Should I call or just wait for my next appointment? |

I would call the doctors office. Sometimes it takes a few weeks to start feeling better. In my case, it was about three or four. But I would call to be safe. Good luck!

i was taking Paxil- the doc insisted I take in the morning, so I went off it. Now I have another doc and he said as long as I take it at the same time every day its OK. So I take it at night and its working out better so far.

Thanks for the replies. I'll call in the am. I did have a T appointment that I missed this past week, I just didn't feel like going. Also, I'm noticing I'm avoiding phone calls... I just don't feel like talking to anyone I know.
One other thing, I try to take my meds in the morning but sometimes, most of the time, I don't get up out of bed until 10:30 and put off taking it... Speaking of taking it, I haven't taken it yet today.... Well, off to the kitchen to 'prop myself up with another pill'. |

Back to your question - I don't know if this is the first pscyh med you've taken but as an above poster said, it often takes a few weeks to a month to kick in. Also, it is kind of "trial and error" to find the right med in the right dosage for the right person. I was started on Prozac years ago and felt like I had the flu, so my pdoc switched me to Zoloft which I've been on for years. Calling pdoc is always the best thing to check out side-effects though.

I would definitely call your pdoc. The other experience I had with prozac was the fact that i lost my appitite. I didn't do anything about it until I weighed 83 lbs which was a major anorexia experience. Beware if now only how you are feeling, but how much weight you are loosing because weight loss is a side effect of prozac & it can be very dangerous.
You pdoc is the best one to talk to about how you are feeling on that prozac....they may deny the side effects, but prozac had many side effects that aren't good & they are real no matter what the pdoc says so beware & be careful Debbie
