I take klonopin at night to help with sleep, but I have never had any mood changes with it. I also take prozac, wellbutrin, and abilify. Do you take any other medicines? Maybe the interaction of more than one medication is causing the problems.

Are you positive it's the klonapins? Also, how much are you on? I take .5-1mg for anxiety & panic attacks, and although I'm quite irritable once they wear off and do have suicidal thoughts some, I know it's not the kpins (since I only take them on a need-to instead of a daily basis). Also, I take 100mg Pristiq & 30 mg Vyvanse daily, but it doesn't seem to have a bad interaction with either (that I've noticed).

i don't believe it is the klonopin doing it, but it is the only change i have made and those who know me best believe it is the klonopin.

I, too, haven't heard of Klonopin being associated with these thoughts. I've been taking it for years.....

A good topic to bring up with your doc--to find out what is happening! We don't want this problem for you! Maybe other additions/changes need to be made to your meds.

Let us know how it goes!

I was given six of them about eight months ago, still have two left. Next day I was in such a vile mood, paranoid and aggressive. As a result I've only taken it when in extreme distress through lack of sleep, when I know I won't be interacting with people the next day. Even so, I'm sure from my response that if I took this thing regularly I'd be in a terrible state. Doesn't make me suicidal, but so angry that I'll bang my head on the wall if people don't shut up.

I've literally only taken it when I've not slept for two or three days, to kickstart it again.

Have you tried melatonin? That really does work, and feels like natural sleep.

I take Klonopin for anxiety, PTSD, OCD and GAD. I'm supposed to take one 1mg pill twice per day, but I only take it when my anxiety gets so bad that I feel like I'm going to have a heart attack. (I told my psychiatrist this and he said that it's fine- I don't have to take it if I don't feel I need to). I've never had a bad side effect from it (as a matter of fact, the worst it's done is make me sleepy), however just because I didn't have a bad reaction to it doesn't mean that you won't. Everyone is different, and every person's body handles it and reacts to it differently. In addition, like some of the other members have stated, it may not be just the Klonopin causing the reaction. It could be the Klonopin interacting with another med that you're on, or another med causing the reaction all together. Are you on other medication as well? Also, is Klonopin the only medication that was recently added to your meds? If your suicidal thoughts continue, you might want to call the doctor if he has an after hours number to call, or a crisis hotline. Another option is to go to the ER. I hope this helps, and I hope you feel better soon.

I was prescribed diazepam (which I think is the same group of drugs as klonopin) a few months ago and it definitely did cause me to have strong sui thoughts - I have read a few of your posts here hi iq and I hope you are talking to your doctor about the changes you have decided to make and the type of thoughts you are having.

I know for me these thoughts can become strong, so please be careful and keep safe. Let us know how you are doing - Soup
