I've become obsessed with how I look, it's all I think about anymore. I'm quite slim but I'm currently dieting because I feel I need to lose weight off my face. I don't want to meet up with people because I feel so ugly. I noticed wrinkles recently and now they're all I can think about. I got my lips done hoping it would help but it didn't. I'm so exhausted from this and sick of the obsessive thoughts. Would medication help?? I was on Lexapro for a few years for anxiety and came off them. I'm wondering if this has come on in part due to that.

I'd really love some advice, has anyone gone on anti depressants for these types of thoughts and experienced an improvement?

Thank you.

Depression can manifest as self loathing. I can pretty much gauge my mood by looking in the mirror in the morning. When I'm happy with how I look wrinkles, gray hair and all...(i'm 62) then I know I'm doing ok. Others mornings I look in the mirror and think....oh my God, I look like I died and then got dug up....I know I'm depressed.

I've been going through the same for over 20 yrs. Have you've been diagnosed with Body Dysmorphic Disprder? I think there's a forum on here for that.

Does sound like BDD. Something that was casually mentioned in session with my doctor...

I would give cognitive behavioral and/ or Dialectical behavioral therapy a chance. Medication can't really change how you feel about yourself, that's something that has to be worked on
