I was on paxil for three years and it was ok. the only side effects I had was during the 2 week adjustment period. It made me want to sleep so my physician had me taking it at night so that I could sleep through that part of it but still benefitted from taking it because Paxil builds up and stays in the body for 2 weeks. I felt like I was moving in slow motion, the floor felt like it was tilting and I could not sit up too fast or stand up real fast. but that all settled down after a couple weeks and my doctor and I had my right dosage. After I was on my correct dosage if I didnt take it at exactly the same time every day I would get this electric shock like headache. When it was time to go off it my physician lowered the dosage is in steps because going cold turkey off paxil results in withdrawal and electic shock like brain zaps.

This is a good medication as long as you are the type of person that does not skip dosages and does not quit medications without treatment professionals advise and help.

I didn't either until I got those awful electric shock brain zaps. I learned very quickly to take it every night with my dinner.

I am not the best person to tell you about paxil.

they put me on it when I was 14 and it made me borderline psychotic..

I was up down up down up down, suicidal, manic, delusional, you name it.

I dunno if it was just how young i was or if it was something else.

I will say my aunts a teaching nurse that goes around teaching doctors new stuff and she told me that the stuff she has learned about paxil scares the crap out of her, and its supposed to be super bad for your body to process. I dunno if its true or not but it sure messed me up when I was on it.

Thanks Rainbowzz..

I have heard it's got a 'black box' warning for those under 18 because it might increase the risk of suicide and self harm in them...

What bad things did your aunt say about it? PM me about it if you want if you don't want to write it out on the forums.

I take Paxil CR it is a time release type pill that can not be cut because it will take away the layers of med that it gives you. I am on 75mg daily. this has helped me. The only problem I had with this sorry (about this I had diarea) each time they raised the dose. and it is considered 75 mg is the max and required dose for Panic disorder I hope this gives you something to help you. I have been taking this for about three months now.

I don't think the time-release ones are available in the UK, or at least, I've never seen them advertised...
