i've noticed that lately alot of people i know have been taking adderall [non-presribed.. they get it from other people]. and i didnt think much of it because i wouldnt never take anyone elses drugs, and wouldnt take any unless prescribed directly to me. but one of my friends took 30mg last night [her first time, and last time trying it she sweared], and freaked out. she said she couldnt stop shaking and her heart was beating fast, she couldnt eat or sleep. i'm glad she's okay, now, but she's still feeling a little sick today. i know adderall is used to treat ADD, and things like that. but what happens to your body when you take it? why do people take it if it isnt prescribed?

Why do people take it? It's a narcotic, and they take it to get high. It is, in fact, amphetamine. Speed.

And your friend took far more than the average starting dose. I think my dose was 5mg twice a day, and that increased my depression severely. It's not a good feeling for some people.

So, your friend wanted to get high, took a drug inappropriately, and didn't like it. That's a good reason not to take someone else's prescription

same thing happened to my friend angie when she was young. Her friend nadine had ritalin(I think it was ritalin) for her "adhd"(the friend used em to get high too so i dont think it was really adhd)and told her that they were like sugar pills and would make her hyper. She gave her TEN OF THEM Adderall

She ended up in the hospital having to drink charcoal, hallucinating, having a really miserable time. The doctors said she easily could have died had she only had a couple more.

Scary stuff.

Hello!

Adderall is an amphetamine closely related to methamphetamine. Amphetamines are addictive and unfortunately abused by people from all walks of life. Common street name for amphetamines are Speed, Addies (referring to Adderall specifically), bennies, pep pills, Tic Tacs, and Vitamin R (referring to Ritalin).

Reactions to amphetamines include the following:
- increased heart rate
- increased blood pressure
- increased sweating
- shaking or tremors
- hallucinations (when taken in large doses)
- feeling "high" or euphoric
- increased feels of aggression or anger
- delusional thoughts, including thinking that one is superior to others, cannot be hurt, etc.
- acute manic symptoms
- insomnia
- flushing in the face
- increase or decrease in sexual desire & performance
- headaches
- increased feelings of anxiety/panic/nervousness
- decrease in appetite

Your friend was lucky - because taking 30mg of Adderall is a lot - and large doses can be fatal. Also, if amphetamines are mixed with other drugs like cocaine, marijuana, alcohol, opiates - the mixture can be fatal as well.

Hope this helps,
Jerry Adderall
