So I finally got my doctors to prescribe me something that is more affective at treating ADHD. But I'm not quite sure how effective it will be for me in the long run, since I've read about discontinuation effects of the drug after about 4-10 years. Since Adderall hasn't been around long enough to really evaluate the long term affects, and effectiveness over time, I'm worried that I may build up a tolerance, or that it will just stop working for me. However, the testamonials that I was reading were mostly from people who had abused the drug, so it may be perfectly effective over time as long as it's not abused by taking over the prescribed dose.
Also, I've been having trouble sleeping, but I figure that this is a normal initial affect that will probably wear off. Does anyone experience/know of someone who continues to experience interupted, restless sleep?
One last thing: I was instructed to take up to 40mg a day for now, but I've found that 10-20mg in mid to late afternoon gives me excellent concentration for the rest of the day & night AND helps me wake up feeling refreshed and motivated to accomplish more and more things, with great concentration. I don't know if I'm just a slow metabolizer of the med, or if the other stimulant that I'm on (Provigil, 100mg in the morning) extends the affect of Adderall. Provigil does little for my concentration or motivation, so I know that it's not just the Provgil keeping me productive in the morning. Any ideas about the plausibility (this might not be a word

) of such extended affects? I would say it's a placebo effect, but it's quite physical, and also I had no preconcieved notion that this long of an affect was even possible.
