I've been taking Celexa for about 3 months now and I have yet to notice any change in my mental status. I started at 20mg for 30 days. I told my doctor it wasn't working so he upped me to 40mg a day. I have now been taking 40mg daily for 2 months, and still I feel no significant difference.

Any opinions on Celexa? Has anyone had any success with it?
Thanks.

Many people have success with Celexa but many don't. What anti-depressant will work for a person is very idiosyncratic. I think you have given Celexa a fair trial, with little results. You are up near the top of the dosing range so I think it is time to try a new med. If you had some success with Celexa but not enough, adding a second med might be an option, but since you have had no success, I think your doc might suggest trying a different med entirely and dropping the Celexa. Also, adding psychotherapy to an anti-depressant tends to be better than an anti-depressant alone. Good luck.

Ive been taking it for 2 years, I feel like its not a real 'strong' antidepressant, rather helps anxiety some more.. I couldn't really tell you how it works.. its almost like taking a placebo

Celexa works really well for me, albeit at 60 mg, and in combo with other drugs. I do know that when I first went on Celexa at 20 mg, I noticed an improvement within about 2 weeks.

I think you've given it a fair chance to work, and it's probably not the right med for you. I'd ask your dr. to try a different med.

Good luck.

my pdoc told me that if there is no significant change after 1-2 months the med isn't working..so you might need to try something else.
