Thanks for the info. I might just try to stick with the paxil for a little while. I am not real sure about taking the new meds.

Symbyax is a combination of fluoxetine (Prozac) and olanzapine (Zyprexa). Prozac is an SSRI and is related to Paxil and Paxil CR. Zyprexa is one of the new generation atypical anti-psychotics. The combination of these two have been shown to help cover a wide array of symptoms - from major depression w/GAD to OCD and schizo-affective disorders.

Recent studies I've read in the Psychiatric Times recently have found that a particular response to one SSRI does not mean one will respond the same to another SSRI.

The side effects you experienced from the Paxil CR are not uncommon and usually go away. However, sometimes these side effects are too overwhelming and a switch to another SSRI may provide better relief with less side effects.

I hope this helps some - and please feel free to ask more questions! Many people here have a lot of knowledge about these meds and are very willing to share their experiences and provide support!

Hang in there!
