Once before when i was treated for either depression or Bipolar i had disturbing dreams.
This year, i started taking 20mg Lexapro which is working GREAT on my depression, but i'm having such awful dreams that i'm starting to wish i didn't have to go to sleep at night. Has anyone else had this experience? I do have a lot of stress in my life, but i've had this effect of awful dreams when i was taking psychotropic rx before. Boo Radley |

Yes, unfortunately vivid dreaming can occur with meds like Lexapro - which is a little odd since studies have shown SSRIs to generally decrease REM sleep. However, if it is working for you and you continue to have these dreams - I'd suggest talking with a therapist. You can also ask your doctor about adding Clonidine at night. Clonidine is generally used to treat high blood-pressure, however, it seems to help suppress vivid dreaming associated with psychotropic meds. Hope this helps! Jerry ![]()
