I've been on paxil since 1997. Doc was concerned I have shutters that could be neuroepherine related from the paxil. I always thought it was my neck, but my mom always suspected meds.

I'm concerned about paxil w/drawal, but doc thinks the prozac will help stop the symptoms.

He's going to talk w/ his associates about the memory/word problems. We'll discuss it in 3 weeks on my next visit.

I still think it's the zanax, but he doesn't seem concerned with that med.

Wish me luck. LOL.
prozac is another ssri like paxil, so you should have no problems, switching over, my doc lets me straight tapper over a same type of med. takeing the paxil one day and swapping to prozac the next. Could you tell me did you gain much weight on paxil its the worst ssri for weight gain

Sewerrat I don't know how much I've gained on Paxil as I've been taking it since 1997. I'm heavy at 175 & 5'4. How much of that is medicine I don't know. I had a few back injuries that kept me inactive so I'd probably blame that over meds.

My doc said the same thing, that switching over to the same line of drug will stop withdrawal symptoms. So far I'm taking Paxil in am and Prozac in PM. No symptoms at all. I do this for another week then straight to Prozac.

My doc said they use prozac to taper off paxil all the time to stop the withdrawal issues. Good to know.
Thanks for this!

Thats what you call a slow taper useing both meds, saves a slow withdrawl of 1 med then washout an then restart new med. But a quicker way i use on same type of med , when you get your new meds just stop an next tablet start the new , called a straight taper. You can get instant benifit or if nor suited you will no sooner. I got that taper off AMERICAN web site my gp is ok with it not all are, they still stick to long long washout an causeing the patient to sometime opt out sooner than go through more pain.
Thanks for this!

I do think your seeing a neurologist to make sure nothing bad is going on is a great idea.
