I told my pdoc that sometimes I feel like I've been switched off. I really don't care about anything and I don't enjoy my favourite activities much. I become awfully distant and feel like nothing's actually real. Other than that, I told him that I believe this world is like a great big computer and our souls are somewhere outside of it controlling our bodies like the characters in a video game. Sometimes this belief is so powerful that I feel trapped inside my own body. Now what I want to know is whether you guys think this is a form of psychosis and I need an antipsychotic because of it. The side-effects from Zyprexa/Olanzapine are almost intolerable. I'm drowsy all the time. My body seems to resist my will to move it around! I've become so slow that I feel like I'm underwater. AND I gained 5 or 6 kilos the last time I was on it.

Sounds like a delusion to me and yes that's what APs are for but zyprexa is horrible for weight gain....try switching to another AP....I like abilify it's a partial antagonist for the dopamine receptor so it's a little different than the other APs.

I don't believe it's a delusion. You might be feeling something like depersonalization and you might be explaining what you feel with an example. I've got this feeling with some meds. Maybe it's a side effect of some other med you're taking?

The belief being so p powerful. You feel trapped inside your body is what bring this thought outside the norm. There are many antipsychotic mess out there. Insist on another. Keep trying different ones till u find the right and perfect one for you.

Is that belief somehow distressing to you or causing you trouble in everyday functioning?

Don't settle for intolerable side effects. If you don't enjoy anything and are tired all the time, that isn't much of a life.

I notice you're all on Effexor (from your siggy). That drug makes me not care about anything, feel distant and enjoy little.
