I have just had my Cymbalta dose changed from 60 to 120mg. I am so cranky that I can't even stand myself. I feel like I should go out and buy a turbo broom stick.

Any body else had to deal with this side affect for this med?

It got upped because I was still struggling with depression.

I had a similarly bad reaction to cymbalta, it made me very irritable and anxious I had to stop taking it.

I love Cymbalta. I'm not on quite that high at all but I do have the irritability thing sometimes, especially when I up the dose. I get irritable and a little bit agitated ( my leg starts to bounce a lot and I can't stop that)
I'd ask your doc if you could try and raise it slower, that's what helps me.

In studies cymbalta aka duloxetine has been shown to be no more effective than a placebo in doses over 60mg in treating depression. It has however been shown to be beneficial at 120mg in anxiety treatment.

I never noticed myself being any more or less irritable when I was taking it ( at 60mg) to how I was prior to that on citalapram, or what I'm taking now - trazadone.

While your body adapts to dosage increase it can take up to two weeks to feel more normal and for side effects to subside.

I had been on 60mg of Cymbalta since June last year. About 2 months ago my P'doc upped it to 90mg for 4 weeks so I have only been on 120mg for 4 weeks. I do like Cymbalta as I also have anxiety issues and on 100mg of Seroquel and 4mg of Paxam at night. Maybe the next four weeks will help my body to adjust.

My P'doc is going on holidays for 4 weeks. If I am still at this level of cranky then I will see what else he can suggest. I did let him know about the crankies today but all he said was "well its something to think about"....... Translation you deal with it and get back to me.

I am glad I live on my own so I am not inflicting myself on too many people.

Some ADs can cause agitation especially if you are bipolar (and may cause mania, as well). I know some of the SSRIs did that to me. When I took my first dose of lexapro I thought my head was on fire (and I was in the grocery store at the time and had to get the hell out of there fast).

I take Topamax as a mood stabilizer to lessen the hypomania chances for high doses of Cymbalta. Works great for me.
