Thought I'd let you all know what's happening with the new "no alcohol" lifestyle. The pain, knotted muscles, cracking of the jaws and muscle spasms worsened. However, I don't miss having wine in the evenings if I just don't ever have it. It's all or nothing with me and alcohol. Taking Aleve helps some with pain. I'm also getting a better office chair for work.

Just thought you'd like to hear that I had more of a withdrawal anytime I drank than I do with the pain meds!

As background, the first 9 years of my injury, I had no pain meds, and had to at time drink to get through. It would be fine if I could have done that constantly, but after the alcohol wore off, the muscle spasms I normally experience from the injury, were worse! (finally a doctor helped(s) with pan med instead.

Of course I don't drink at all now, but don't need to either! Good luck.

...I can misspeak like the best of us

Thanks for the encouragement wendy and skybdark.
I think not drinking is the best option for me. Aleve helps some. I guess I'll just stick with that. I'm intrigued by the lidoderm patches that BP mentioned though. I might have to ask my doc about them.
