I apologize for my absense of late. I have been working 65h weeks since the start of the year and this is the first week that I have had 2 days off in a row. I do have my internet connection back up at work, so I should be able to check in more often.

For those who have posted questions to which I have not replied, please either repost the question or add a reply to your post requesting me to get off my butt and do it.
TO ALL

I know that I have missed quite a few posts, but it is too hard for me to reread all the posts. If you would repost or get your old post to the top of the messages again, I will try to answer those that I can.

Sorry for any inconvenience. - Cam

Dear Cam, my friend,

I've known you for several years and have even had the honor of having you in my home. Unlike many here, I've witnessed your tireless efforts in helping countless numbers of people, not only here, but at other sites too. Speaking for me, I would not be at the stable condition with my Bipolar Disorder were it not for you, and don't know that I'll ever be able to thank you properly, or enough for that.

I know the nightmare you've experienced over the last few years since the death of your daughter. Yet you still take the time to help others. This says volumes about the type of person you are. One I'm grateful to call my friend.

I hope you will remember to take care of yourself and your family first above all else. We here will always appreciate whatever you can do for us.

All my love to you and yours,
Greg

Cam... you do a wonderful job here. I am deeply grateful. Please don't overtax yourself. You are the only "CamW" we have.

Try the website
. Since it's by the company, I'm sure it's a little bit biased, but they do have some good information there. There is a survey, too, and links to other resources. I haven't checked things out around their site really, but at first glance I'd say it looks good.

Trish,

I don't know how much help I can be, but I've been taking Topamax for almost three years. Maybe you have a question I can help you with? I'd be glad to try.

my doctor put me on topmax for my headaches???
I am not having any probs with it just yet, other than I do not have an appitet and when i do feel like eating it is very little that feels me up.. and if I over eat, I get very very upset at my stomach.. and by this I mean if I eat more than one plateful, or more than just a small slad. whth my dinner..

It is almost like I do not want to eat, at all.. I can get away with eating a half of bagle in the moring, and I am used to eating two egs two saugeas and bread and milk????

so far it is helping.. They are not as bad..

'I can actually take just an aleve and it will be where I can function.. The goal is 100mg and hopefully I will not have to take any pain meds for headaches other than teynol..

Trish,

Topamax is used primarily as an anti seizure med, but more and more docs are finding it very useful for patients who have mood swings. You're the first person I''ve heard of of having it rx'd for headaches, but if it works that's what matters.

I'm not surprised to hear about your appetite loss. I gained a ton of weight when I started Zyprexa, which was OK because it made me feel better mentally. But I was still having those Dr.Jekyll and Mr.Hyde mood swings. My psych started me on Topamax, and not only did it stop the mood swings, I started to lose weight. I didn't lose my appetite altogether, but it wasn't near what it used to be. I did some research on Topamax, and weight loss/loss of appetite is a side effect. If you are really concerned about it, you should call your doc. Your appetite will return, but I can't tell you when for sure.

Please Trish, if you have anymore questions, be sure and let me know, OK?

BTW, I think the new dragon that Dex made you is way cool!

thank you..

I am hoping that since this is hte frist week I have been on it, that maybe it will come back slowly not all at once..
I do not mind not wanting to eat..

I am only concernd about my eating disorder coming back in full force, if my body finds out it can do with out food agian it might try telling me agian that I no longer need food..

And I talked in great detial with my doctor about it before we put me on this med, for this reason but it is almost the last of our choices becuase the next step might have been is a differnt type of medication like a barbitute but I did not even want to do it EVER !!!!!

So I will just keep talking to others who hvae been on it.. and yes I do know it is a mood stabilzer and ep med.. but I am ok with that..

LD - Have you told your doc that your appetite is gone? If not, please give him/her a call. We wouldn't want things to get out of hand. If you are avoiding calling, that already is a concern, right? If you have already called....good job. And are you keeping that food journal?

You know I've got my eye on you!! :-)

no i have not called and no i have not started the food journal..

I will buy a book today for the food journal.. and I will think about calling the doc.. it has subsided a little so it is not a worrysome to me.. but still a little..

I am just scared that if I call him he will take me off it and put me back on the pain pills I do not want to go back on them.. I like not walking around in a dazed and confused look all the time..

My mind is actually working right now..
I can remember yersterday and I can also start to remeber the thigns I need to for my classes which I so deerly need to do for school.. If I loose a little weight (225lbs) it will not bug me.. in the slightest.. I am only supposed to weight195 for my height and body mass.. So I am nto worried about that..

Thank you for caring trust me it means a great deal to me Emily.. you really do not know how much it does mean
