Today was my first day on Abilify 5mg. Three hours after I consumed it, I started feeling very sleepy and nauseous. So, I slept for an hour.

But then during dinner time, as I was preparing my food, I started complaining to my parents about how terribly nauseous I felt. And as I was complaining, everything started becoming rather fuzzy and I couldn't hear what my parents were saying and I fainted.

It's only my first day on this medication (on such a low dosage too). Is fainting even part of the side-effects from Ablify?

I mean, thank goodness I was at home when that happened.

(I'm on Abilify for social anxiety, I think. My doctor refuses to give me a proper diagnosis).

Hi Sadplant, I started Abilify recently as well. I haven't had anything like that happen but that sounds scary, I wouldn't think that's a normal reaction. I would definitely call your doctor and let them know what happened
Thanks for this!

Sadplant, I had horrible luck with abilify and side effects although some people don't. I'd never take it again....D.

Blue_bird, how many days have you been on Abilify so far? I'd only taken it once, and now I'm really afraid to take it again. Oh dear..

DePressMe, not to mention how expensive Abilify is. Perhaps, Abilify isn't for me either. I should probably call my doctor.

Thank you for your responses!

Today was my 9th day on Abilify, I am on a smaller dose than you though. I started with 2mg then went to 2.5 a few days later and have stayed at that so far. The only thing that I've noticed is it making me very restless.

If it is being caused by the Abilify maybe you could ask about getting switched to a different AP, and one that's also less expensive? I know that's what I'm likely going to do. I hope you get a hold of the doctor and let him/her know what happened

sadplant i had the same reaction on 10mg. my eyes blacked out, head went fuzzy and was a loud ringing noise in my head then i woke up on the floor. according to the psych its an extremely rare reaction. do you by any chance have low blood pressure? i do and i thought that might be why it happened as it can affect your blood pressure. sorry you went through this too is a horrible experience.
Thanks for this!

I am on 30mgs right now and have been since January. I started out on 5mgs a few years ago and worked my way up to the 30mgs. I have never heard of fainting as a side effect. I also tend to have a very low blood pressure and rapid heart rate and have not passed out from it. I did have the very restless feeling aka akasthia(sp) but was diagnosed with RLS and am being treated for that. I hope you get ahold of your pdoc and let them know that you did faint. They may want to run some tests or have your GP run them.

I restarted Abilify last month after stopping it for 2 months and I also had a nauseous/dizzy/faint spell. Prior to stopping it I had been taking 30mg of Abilify for 9 years with no side effects whatsoever. Not sure if the fact that I took a 30mg tablet after a 2-month break had anything to do with my reaction, but I've not taken it since...

I took Abilify briefly. I called it the dancing drug because I couldn't stop moving. It made it hard for me to sleep (everybody's different). When I started seeing a monster in the dishwasher, I knew it was time to switch meds.

Fainting sounds pretty serious. You need to tell your doc right away.

I wanted you to know THIS IS EXACTLY WHAT HAPPENED TO ME. I just got out of the hospital.

I took ability for a year or so. I always took it before I went to bed. Anxiety can also cause dizziness.

This happened to me on 5mg of Abilify. I take it in the morning and once, in the middle of the night, I got up and within 30 seconds was on the floor in the bathroom. It has been a few months now and it hasn't happened again.

Wow I haven't had this side effect as of yet because of the ambilify that I have been taking. Might be because I started very slowly with a very low dose. Hope that you feel better.
