I've been taking the absolute lowest dose for a week & a half now, 0.25mg. Taking it very slowly to watch for adverse effects. And today I noticed some breast pain. I squeezed my nipple gently [just because I had heard about the side-effect more than a few times... Perverts], & clear fluid came out on one side. Is this really bad enough to quit? I've been intending on raising my dose & it's been working so well for me... If I had to quit, at least it's early on but I'd be disappointed a bit. I know it's due to a hormone imbalance but I'm not sure if it's really THAT serious. Is it really a big deal?

I grew a cup size on only 1mg daily! So that was a plus Lol
Idk if its serious Shay, I read somewhere once that it could cause problems, vague I know sorry. I was on it for 2 years and it didn't harm me, just quit it because I flushed all my meds.

I appreciate the input, Trippin!! I'm proud of you for going off meds, btw, don't know if I ever told you. But yeah. I'm not sure how serious it is -- especially since it's showing up on such a small dose. IDK what would happen if I raised it... Hopefully someone else can shed more light on the matter.

It is a very common side effect from what I've read. My impression is that it isn't harmful, but more a slight nuisance. However, I would certainly give my pdoc a call and ask him/her about it.

Yes, I suggest you ask your doc.

I am remembering the rather embarrassing experience I had with this drug and this side effect when I went for my mammogram. As you might know, the machine presses down on the appropriate parts of the anatomy. The attendant was really surprised when I responded like a cow!
Thanks for this!

My only concern with raised prolactin levels (if the lactation isn't bothersome) is the long term effect on fertility (which may or may not be an issue for you). I've heard anecdotally that it can take a while for prolactin levels to come back down if you stop the drug, and so fertility takes a while to come back. Anyway it's probably best to ask pdoc.

All the best Shay

Hi I have the same problem minus the pain. I went to doctor yesterday and he said there is nothing to worry about as long as there is no pain or discolouration. If it is painful, definitely go see doc about it!

Thank you all! I'll definitely ask about it... Turns out the achiness was from my monthly visitor, not the meds. And I'll be grateful if this stuff makes me safely infertile!! Lmao

I don't know how "serious" a problem it is, aside from being a bit of a nuisance and embarrassment at times.

I started on .5mg and discovered the lactation side effect after I'd been on it about a month and was at a work conference. There was a guy who wouldn't stop staring at my chest. I was getting ready to tell him off on break, until I went to the ladies room first and saw two giant wetspots. I wanted to die of embarrassment.

The good news, is it didn't get any worse, as I increased the dose, I'm now up to 4 mg, and I now only lactate if someone squeezes my breast.

A more serious side effect is it can really affect your menstrual cycle and throw it completely out of whack.

But all antipsychotics have side effects so it really is a question of deciding which ones you can live with vs which ones you won't tolerate.

Just saw my psych today. Apparently it's a pretty bad side-effect, especially at such a tiny dosage... Says it would be risky to titrate up. I'm already a hypothyroid risk. And my odds for a pituitary tumor (benign) or breast cancer are elevated.

I finally agree to go on meds & this happens!! Sigh. I'm starting on a low-dosage of Seroquel tonight... Fingers crossed for no ******** side-effects!

I hope that the Seroquel works out. Most people say it knocks them on their @rse at least at first, but it never did that to me, so fingers crossed for you

Thaaaaaaaaank you all super much!! Boy it kicked my *** last night... ****! Drop Dead Shay. I'm a bit foggy today, but I'm functional! The weirdest thing is that my hypersensitivity to touch is gone. Whoosh, poof, vanished. I'm grateful! But I can't wait to find out what that means. Even my muscle/joint pain is duller. I've been in constant pain for the better part of 8 years... Mysteeeeeeeeerious.

Yeah - Seroquel knocks me out to, but it's a really good med for my anxiety. I know for some people, they've told me that they get used to it and don't get drowsy after a while.

Good luck with it.
