Anyone helped from adding Seroquel or taking it alone? I heard and read mostly negative experiences about this medication.. for the most part..

Seroquel helped me through some really tough times. It is a good, effective medication.
There are some negative side effects but its up the patient if it is worth putting up with the side effects for stability.

It didn't help me, it seemed to make me extra nervous and very sleepy.

It's worked great for me for anxiety - a lot better than any of the benzos. It does make me drowsy though. I'm on a low dose though 50 mg / day - hoping to go up to 75 mg after I see my pdoc tomorrow. I haven't gained any weight on it, or noticed any major side effects.

Anyone benefit from Seroquel?

I've been taking Seroquel XR tapering to 300mg for 8 weeks and cannot tell any difference at all. At first is made me sleepy but now it doesn't even do that. It has also increased my appetite. In fact, I'm going to see my pdoc today and ask him to take me off of it. Different drugs for different folks.

Seroquel is the second best med I've ever been on, with the most effective being Zyprexa. I get almost the same amount of stability, but none of the weight gain. I am actually very happy with Seroquel, and as long as it keeps working for me, I'll keep taking it.

Update: Saw my pdoc. He is raising the Seroquel XR to 600 mg. so I'll see if that will make a difference. He also added Webutrin. I hope something works. I'm running out of options.

I take regular Seroquel and have had no side effects except for thinning hair. I think it's working but I take it in combination with Lamictal so I don't know which or both are helping my Bipolar.
