I had to stop taking remeron a week and a half ago. I was getting dreaming even when awake(weird). Anyways, I go to a county funded clinic, and still don't have my new antidepressant, which is Luvox.

Can anyone please tell me if they've had any experience taking Luvox? I'm afraid of new medicines, and am afraid my having pro blems getting this filled means I shouldn't take it. I can't tell my Pdoc that though, as I think she's probably had enough of me changing medicines. (Do doctors feel that way? She's very nice to me).

I've been on antidepressants for two years now, and I think I'm having withdrawls from not being on one. I'm very anxious and not thinking right. My thinking seems off. I stopped cold turkey, I couldn't stand those stupid dreams anymore! Big mistake.

Sorry for rambling on. Has anyone taken Luvox before? Is it any different from other SSRIs? I've taken zoloft, paxil, and celexa(among other non ssri). Was best with the zoloft. My Luvox is ready for me to pick up now, but kind of afraid to take it.

Please excuse my writing...I'm not myself right now.

Hi Pat. Wow, I can't believe you had the weird dreams on remeron too! It's "suppossed" to be a rare side effect.

Thanks, I will call my doc. I promise! I was just afraid she might be annoyed by me calling about my fears of taking Luvox. I've been afraid of taking every new drug, except for clonazepam. I love that stuff, I took one an hour or so ago and feel MUCH better No antidepressant right now, waiting for Luvox am very anxious anyone triedLuvox For now No antidepressant right now, waiting for Luvox am very anxious anyone triedLuvox. I've been going thru some major anxiety since about two days after stopping the remeron, and it seems to be getting worse. I actually had a panic attack earlier, and I take 2mg of clonazepam every day! My first panic attack in over a year. I guess I do need an antidepressant. I never realized how much they helped me.

tokidoki - Luvox™ (fluvoxamine) is similar to other SSRIs, but at the same time it is slightly different. It does have a shorter half-life than the others, so if you are taking it for depression you usually need to take it twice daily. As for "start-up" side effects, it seems to cause more stomach upset (at least in the first week or so) than most of the others, but taking Luvox™ with food will minimize this. Another difference from other SSRIs is that it may initially cause some diarrhea, but it is usually not that bad; more like looser stools than water diarrhea.

Over the long haul, Luvox™ tends to cause less sexual dysfunction and does not usually cause the same weight gain as many of the other SSRIs. It tends to be better for anxiety than others (Paxil™ - paroxetine - may be slightly better).

On the downside, Luvox™ may interact with other medications (esp. cholesterol drugs - statins, dextromethorphan - DM; cough suppressant, and acetaminophen - Tylenol™). The twice daily dosing can be a pain; although, not all doctors prescribe it twice daily, especially if it is being used in combination with another antidepressant. When used as an augmenting agent for other antidepressants Luvox™ is given at bedtime. The reason that it is not used more is because it does need to be taken twice daily, and this reduces compliance.

Don't be afraid to take the Luvox™, give it a fair trial (a good 3 or 4 weeks) to see if it works for you. I hope that this is of some help. - Cam

Thanks so much for the info! No antidepressant right now, waiting for Luvox am very anxious anyone triedLuvox

It's really assuring to me to hear a real person talk about this med. I did talk to my pdoc about it today, she was reassuring too. But every medicine I've questioned a pdoc about, they always say is so wonderful, etc. Then I read about all these frightening side effects online-one medicine I was going to take said it could cause sudden death! I flushed those like they were poison!!

Those side effects don't sound too bad. Not compared to a couple bad ones I've had from other medicines No antidepressant right now, waiting for Luvox am very anxious anyone triedLuvox

I LOVE the fact that this SSRI looks to be better for anxiety, thanks for that info. Anxiety is the biggest problem I have, I think it is anyways.

Have a good one y'all No antidepressant right now, waiting for Luvox am very anxious anyone triedLuvox ( I live in TX,US-love this smiley!)
