So I have been on risperidone since October 2008. I started at a very low dose and gradually increased it over the years. In September, my pdoc increased it again to 3mg twice a day. I began to lactate on this dose, so I emailed pdoc who said to go back down to 2mg twice a day. I did and did fine for about 2 weeks, but then the voices and paranoia came back, so I called pdoc who said to go up to 2mg in the morning and 3mg at bedtime. I did this, but the lactation came back.

I saw pdoc today and he decided to switch me to a different med. He wants me to try Latuda next. Anyone have any experience with Latuda? I don't like that there is no generic, but my other choice was Abilify (which pdoc said also had no generic), so I just went with what pdoc wanted to try next.

Hey Squirrel1983- I love Latuda for my bipolar depression, mood swings and that is weight neutral! For me though, it's all about finding the right dose! Best of luck! Btw-I hated Abilify and Risperdal since they made me hungry and not stable with my moods!
Thanks for this!

I wasn't a fan of it. I gave it a good try of about 4 months, and I didn't find it to be that effective, plus, because you have to take it with a significant amount of food, I would vomit at least once a week because I didn't have enough food in my stomach. So after that trial, I asked to be taken off it and put back on Seroquel which I have had very good success with.
Thanks for this!

I've been taking only 20mg because he is going to have to take me off of it because I can't afford it. The doctor had been giving me samples, but told I couldn't keep taking it. He know I have no insurance so I don't know why he keeps giving these brand name only drugs. However, I have not had any trouble taking it. Was on 40mg but he lowered it after I told him I couldn't take it.

I take Latuda and I'm real happy with it. I had some nausea the first few weeks but it went away. It does not cause me weight gain or brain fog like the other APs.......D

People aren't often told you need to take it with food. A lot of doctors forget to let their patients know.

I've been on latuda for a couple of weeks for a nasty bipolar depressive episode. It hasn't helped yet. I do take it with lunch and do not experience sedation or nausea or other side effects. I just wish it would help! If no improvement in another week, my doc will be increasing the dosage. Good luck with it.
