P-doc just put me on this med. 300 mg three times a day. Is this going to fuzz up my mind and cause weight gain? I work as a medical assistant in a busy office...I cannot afford to not think clearly.

He also wants to put me on Saphris or Latuda. Both of those are weight gainers and could cause anger issues. I'm scared. He wants to eventually wean me off of Celxa and lorazepam.

Help!!!

Maybe you need a new Pdoc. When I get a med that does'nt agree with me for whatever reason I simply do not take it. Then we try something else. For me, gaining weight is extremely depressing!
Thanks for this!

I don't have those side effects. In fact if I go a few days without neurontin I can tell I need it. But everybody has different chemistry so tell your pdoc your symptoms and see what s/he says.

I know my current meds aren't working, but I am always scared of the side effects of new meds. Yoda, what dose are you taking. I'm supposed to take it morning noon and night. Does it make you drowsy?

Yes, Neurontin at 600mg and more can cause weight gain, brain fog and water retention! Saphris causes weight gain but it and Latuda will help with anger not enhance it! Latuda is weight neutral and is a miracle drug for bipolar depression! Btw, Celexa causes weight gain! I'd double ck with a pharmacist!

I take 2400 mg of Gabapentin and haven't had any weight gain. I've been taking Latuda since August and haven't had any weight gain either. I'm coming off Latuda though since it stopped working.
Thanks for this!

I'm taking 900 mg a day. This is my first day on it, I feel really sleepy and crappy. I'm wondering if I should ask the doc if I can take it at night only. I haven't gained weight with Celexa. I do follow weight watchers, so I wonder if it will counter act the weight gain?

Gabapentin's half life is really small, which is why you need to take it so often. It made me really sleepy when I first started taking it, but it wore off when I got to higher doses.
Thanks for this!

I hope the sleepiness wears off. I feel much better this morning. I also slept better last night. I haven't started the Saphris yet, my copay on that is really high and I don't want to get a full month of something if there is a chance it won't work.
