I have a very difficult time changing medications as I have a lot of side effects. One example Lamictal caused confusion and problems with my vision...
Currently wellbutrin seems to have stopped working. At one point PsychNP mentioned switching to Lexapro but I have held off. A couple weeks ago T mentioned reading that Lexapro helps some people with PTSD...I had not told her what NP said so it was just an idea as she knows a lot about meds but certainly not everything |

Hey there. As most of us will tell you, it most certainly is a matter of trial and error. Everyone reacts differently to meds. Lexapro for me was amazing the first time around, but is not working as well on the second run. What I can tell you is that as it is a very streamlined SSRI the secondary effects arent as bad for some people as they would be with other meds. How much Wellbutrin are you taking? Are you looking for something that will calm you down a bit, or do you need more of a focus? For instance, Prozac tends to be more uplifting, and Paxil makes people more sleepy. Again, its a hit or miss sort of thing, so I would suggest having a very long conversation about what youre looking for with your doctor.

Thank you for you response. What I a currently looking for is the depression to decrease. For me prozac, lamictal, lorazepam, a list of other meds have had horrible side effects that effected my work. So very leary about trying anything new...did agree to try lexapro in a very small dose.

I personally really like Lexapro. I take it for just depression, but I literally felt better as soon as I started it. And I'm only on 10 mg, which is considered a low dose. It may cause headaches, but for me it doesn't. Good luck!!
