I've been on Prozac for just over 5 weeks now and I've noticed that I have started having very vivid crazy dreams.
I understand this can be a side effect of Prozac. My main question is do these side effects fade with time when your body gets used to the med or do they carry on? I know everyone reacts differently but am just interested to hear your experiences. Thanks for any advice. |

what helped me for vivid dreams or nightmares is to practice lucid dreaming and "conclude" the dream in such state.
also remember, dreams are a way for your brain to rid of bad **** that goes in mind... so you don't go full on crazy (at least one theory says so). Maybe they are symbolic, may be good to look for familiar omens.

When I was on Prozac I experienced something similar and after a while I didn't have vivid crazy dreams, so i think it is possible for them to go away. However on Effexor now that has some pretty crazy side effects when it comes to dreaming, vivid dreams as well but also extremely violent nightmares.

How much Prozac are you on? And they can fade with time as your body get's use to it, or not. Only time will tell. If you're really concerned with it, talk to your doctor.

![]() Now it's doubtful my GP will let me come off it. I'm on 75mg XR daily and am scared to stop cold turkey, so I keep going back for repeat scripts. I've gone down a rabbit hole and I'm not sure there's any going back!! Rose. |

Effexor really isn't for everyone and it may help some but I have heard more bad than good about it. Don't go off cold turkey whatever you do, slowly go off, even if you have to take the pill apart and count the little dots. Effexor has terrible side effects coming off, i mean the worse I have ever experienced and I have been on many drugs throughout my life.
Some of what I experienced? Feeling hot and cold at the same time, sweating while being cold, shaking and shivering, brain zaps, nightmares, feeling nauseous all of the time, feeling so dizzy I could fall over, feeling like I am car sick and not in a car, head aches, crying spells and some suicidal thoughts. Not trying to scare you but make sure if you do go off talk to your doctor first and go off slowly, it took me two weeks to even feel slightly normal.
