Instead of all the negativity surrounding meds, I would like to hear about meds that have worked for people.

I am on a chemical cocktail of meds, that is finally controlling my depression, anxiety, and PTSD symptoms.

I take
Effexor 375 mg
Celexa 40 mg
Risperidone 4 mg
Seroquel 200 mg
Clonazapam 3.5 mg

I know it sounds like a lot of drugs, but I have very few side effects except when we're changing a dose.

And believe it or not, I haven't gained any weight on them.

Cutting down with pcp's suggestions. This seems to be working:
Lamictal 50 mg
Klonopin 1 mg
Celexa 20mg
Trazadone 100mg
Geodon 20mg.

Hoping to cut out Lamictal, trazodone and Klonopin

I have depression, anxiety, and panic attacks. Celexa worked for 11 years (alternating between 20mg - 60mg) and actually still works but after 7 years new side effects made it intolerable. Cymbalta (don't remember dosage) worked for 3 months. Lexapro (5mg-10mg) worked somewhat for 2 months. Lexapro kept anxiety down for the most part but didn't keep the depression away at either 5mg or 10mg. I am now on Pristiq (50mg). It's only been a little over a week but so far it works really well for both anxiety and depression.

An excellent question!

I've been on so many meds over the years, I can't even recall all of them. I'd say right off that Seroquel has been very helpful for me. It has caused me to gain weight, but the benefit is worth the weight gain.

Hmm, The meds that have helped me the most:

Lamictal
- Best mood stabilizer I've tried. Keeps me from going nuts. I wouldn't try anything else.
Seroquel - Although I rarely have psychotic symptoms, this is the best med to make me sleep. It turns off the racing thoughts that plague me. I am able to sleep a solid 8-9 hours and wake up feeling refreshed.

Zonegran - Really not sure what this is doing. However I know it is also a powerful mood stabilizer, off label. So I take it in conjunction with Lamictalm again so I don't kill someone.

Zyprexa works pretty well to stop the worst of my depression and cycling moods. Stelazine stops my anxiety completely where nothing else worked. Dexedrine has always and continues to be effective at treating my ADD. I'm not having significant side-effects from any of those meds, though I'm considering trying another SSRI as the depression and anxiety aren't completely controlled by the Zyprexa and I end up taking my Stelazine PRN a lot.

Venlafaxine ER (aka Effexor ER) works great for me emotionally ... the anorgasmia sucks though.

Anyone had any positive benefits from BuSpar? And am I the only person in history to not be helped by Lamictal?

I have been on Cymbalta for almost four years and so far (in my eight years of being medicated) it is the one that helps me the most. I am on plenty others, but I think Cymbalta has really worked miracles on me

Zyprexa with Xanax helped me to sleep.

Oh ya and Imovane (not sold in USA) helped me with sleep. It can cause sleepwalking like Ambien (which was my best sleep med so it's sad it causes others grief) but to a lesser degree.

I also liked melatonin but not allowed to take it with my phys illness, Lamictal did help me but I got allergic to it.

Never had positive effects from Buspar.

I want to say I liked Risperdal because it made my head so orderly, but I collected so much water weight on it I had to stop.

It's like that sometimes. It can be hard to find those meds which were 100 % positive. I hope that is not seen as trying to be negative. I just want to mention those because they were very positive in ways.
